Research Project Druges And Alcohol Makes Casual Sex More Prevalant Among Male And Female Students At The University Of Belize
Abstract
This survey-based research project, authored by Melonie Eck, Lilian Guerra, and Sasha Mora, investigates the prevalence of casual sexual activities among students at the University of Belize. Defining casual sex as encounters between strangers or brief acquaintances that may or may not include intercourse, the study explores how social factors like alcohol and drug use, as well as individual psychological variables (self-esteem and personality), influence these behaviors. The research aims to understand the variance in sexual experiences across the student body while addressing societal acceptance of different genders and the role of religious affiliation. Ultimately, the authors argue that while casual sex is becoming more commonplace and is often influenced by media and lifestyle choices, it can lead to physical and emotional damage if left unaddressed
